In September 2019, DOM&C designed and executed a series of five events to welcome to the new CAC the international media in town for the Chicago Architecture Biennial. The official CAB welcome reception on Sunday evening, 9/16 included media representatives from Financial Times, AD China, Folha de Sao Paulo, Wallpaper, Chicago Tribune, Curbed as well as local architects and visiting designers contributing to the Biennial. Incoming Chicago Planning & Development Commissioner Maurice Cox welcomed attendees on behalf of Mayor Lori Lightfoot.
A series of scheduled and drop-in tours of the new CAC exhibits with walking tours and architecture cruises for media were held throughout the week. Over that week 49 total media representatives visiting the CAC and taking part in tours and cruises. Media outlets included Globe and Mail, GQ Japan, Le Monde, Architectural Review, AD India, Dezeen, Domus, Architectural Record and Metropolis.
Media coverage of the CAC during the Biennial opening throughout the month of September, 2019 included pieces in British Airways High Life, Wallpaper, Architectural Digest and CNN Style. The coverage had a potential reach of 35 million with an ad value equivalent of more than $353,000 which represents a 7302% ROI.
